Inspired one of my very favorite birds, "Under The Flower Moon" features a Great Northern Flicker set against a glittery moon and a burst of whimsical meadow flowers. The background and bird are hand-painted with iridescent watercolors finished with hand-illustrated ink details, with real dried + pressed flowers including Cosmos, Coreopsis, Cynoglossum (Forget-Me-Nots), Celosia, Delphinium, and Sea Oats .
This is a very personal piece for me. The Flicker visited my feeder often when I lived in Massachusetts and this composition is based from a photo I took of one of those visits (see second to last image!) Their presence was so majestic and commanding and used to stop me in my tracks bringing me fully present to the moment. I felt so lucky to get to know this beautiful animal from afar (the photo was taken with a telephoto lens.) The Cosmos and Coreopsis flowers I grew (and pressed) myself from seed last Summer on the same porch the bird used to visit. Watching them sprout from seeds to beautiful blooms, giving nourishment to pollinators and bringing joy to us with their beauty was a profound experience (this was my first time successfully growing flowers from seed.) Both this bird and these flowers - and in turn this piece as well - are connected to a time of great transformation, deep loss, and renewed hope.
The finished piece is on smooth French cold-pressed paper and is signed and dated on the back. Framed in a vintage wooden frame with a washed grey-blue-green finish, there are a two minor flaws on the frame (shown in the photos) - a small chip on the bottom and some white paint on one side. The glass is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or scratches. The frame is lightweight and backed with cardboard that has a built-in pop-out hanger so is ready to hang.
NOT A PRINT - this original piece was meticulously hand-crafted and is the only one that exists - a totally one of a kind piece of art!

- I will gladly accept returns, exchanges, and cancellations for (full-price only) Vintage items within two (2) days of delivery. Original shipping will not be refunded and return shipping must be paid by the customer. Returns must be shipped back within seven (7) days of delivery or the return authorization will be canceled.
- Cancellation must be requested within 24 hours of purchase.
